SOLAR CLIENT BENEFITS
-
Homes with solar panel installations are built to save energy costs.
-
Depending on the homeowner's lifestyle and the homes square footage, solar systems offset an average of 15 percent of electrical usage.
-
Because most homes last 50 years and beyond, buyers consider long-term energy usage a priority. Solar panels take this factor into account, addressing it head on.
-
Most people believe electricity costs will continue to rise. Given this prediction and growing, green building priorities, its a sensible theory that homes that aren't green will soon be obsolete.
-
Demand for sustainable features and solar panels accommodate pricing for developers, who save money buying parts in bulk and installing them on all their new homes.
-
For some buyers, high mortgage costs are offset by utility savings afforded by solar panels.
-
Solar panel maintenance is minimal, the process is dependable, and the value of your new home investment will be high.
-
A successful business is one that knows how to control costs -- a maxim that is true in good times, and even more so in bad. Over the past five years, retail electricity rates have risen by an average of 4.7% per year, outpacing inflation by approximately 1.2%, according to the Energy Information Agency. Going solar offers businesses the opportunity to fix their energy costs as a hedge against long-term utility rate increases.
-
Businesses today are going green for a variety of reasons. Some want to gain a competitive edge, others want to please their customers, employees and/or stockholders, some want to save operational costs and others feel a need to help the environment. Any reason is a good reason because it ultimately benefit's the environment.
-
Federal or a particular state often offer corporations tax credits and deductions ranging from 10-35% of the cost of purchasing and installing solar energy systems. Some states offer cost savings through net metering.
-
If the business is producing energy in excess of what it is using, the energy is sent into the utility grid and the building power meter actually runs backwards. Since many businesses are closed two days a week, this effectively means the utility is buying the power on said days. Net metering is an incredibly effective means of slashing utility costs.
-
Businesses can gain further benefits through going solar by taking advantage of government solar financing programs. Typically created as state programs, "solar loans" offer financing for the purchase and installation of the equipment for new constructions and renovations as well.
-
Photovoltaic or PV systems are reliable and pollution-free electric systems that use the sun as renewable source of energy. Some states have the net metering programs which work when the sun power generated is more than needed then the power goes to the utility grid and the meter runs backwards providing you the retail value for the power the system generates.
Global electricity usage is expected to increase from 14.8 trillion kWh in 2003 to 27.1 trillion kWh by 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Energy Internal Energy Outlook 2005. Approximately 65.7% of the worlds electricity is currently produced with fossil fuels. As demand for electricity continues to increase, the electric power industry is facing several challenges:
-
Fossil fuel supply constraints. Limited supply and escalating consumption of coal, oil, and natural gas continue to drive up wholesale electricity prices, resulting in higher electricity costs for consumers.
-
Infrastructure constraints. In many parts of the world, electricity demand exceeds the capacity of existing electricity generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.
-
Desire for energy security. As political and economic instability in key oil and natural gas producing regions has increased, governments are increasingly focused on developing reliable and secure energy sources.
-
Environmental concerns. Long-term use of fossil fuels is associated with a range of environmental issues including global warming, air pollution and water pollution, the increased prevalence of which is driving increased environmental awareness.
-
Industry and governments are considering alternatives to traditional fossil fuels to address these challenges, including renewable energy sources and technologies
-
Utilities are on a mission to supply reliable, safe and affordable energy to their service territories, which continue to demand more and more power. But the burden for utilities is growing, as many are now also tasked with meeting Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) mandates.
-
Solar PV and CSP projects produce reliable, sustainable, clean and affordable power when and where it's needed. This facts alone help utilities satisfy their renewable energy mandates and meet customer demand.
-
Depending on the PV or CSP location, larger utility-scale solar facilities can raise concerns about land degradation and habitat loss.
-
Total land area requirements vary depending on the technology, the topography of the site, and the intensity of the solar resource
-
Unlike wind facilities, there is less opportunity for solar projects to share land with agricultural uses.
-
Smaller scale solar PV arrays, which can be built on homes or commercial buildings, also have minimal land use impact.
-
Land impact from utility-scale solar systems can be minimized by installing them at lower-quality locations such as brown fields, abandoned mining land, or existing transportation and transmission corridors.
